New van new adventures

Hey everyone, I wanted to share something new and exciting happening in my life.

If you know me, you know I'm an 80's kid, and as an 80’s kid saturdays at 5 was the A-Team! I loved that show and have had a soft spot for vans ever since. Something about a cool custom van just brings out the kid in me again. Can you relate?

Even though I've always liked vans, as a family man, there was never really a need for me to have one...until recently.

You see, I'm going to be working away from home again and needed a way to save money on accommodations. That's when it hit me - why not convert a van into a home on wheels? Not only could I use it for work, but it could double as an awesome recreational vehicle for road trips and camping with the family.

So I pulled the trigger and bought a van! The price was incredibly reasonable - almost too good to be true. More on that in a future post. Let's just say this van came with a few "booby prizes" I wasn't expecting. It's going to be an adventure getting her road ready!

As I live on the isle of wight I needed a van that was small enough to make the ferries reasonable but also big enough to be comfortable while I am away. 

As I've been researching van builds, I've discovered an amazing community of van lifers and DIY van converters out there. I've been blown away by their creativity, resourcefulness and willingness to share and help each other out.

I'll be honest, I don't have a ton of experience with this kind of project. But I'm mechanically minded and eager to learn new skills and share my journey - the good, the bad and the ugly - with all of you.

My goal with this blog is to document my progress as I convert this van into a tiny home fit for both work and play. I want to share all the tips, hacks and lessons I learn along the way.

I'm a total noob, but I'm jumping in with both feet! I hope my experiences - and no doubt many misadventures - will be entertaining and maybe even a little informative for you.

So buckle up and join me on this crazy ride as I build my dream van and see where this road takes us! I'll be sharing regular updates here. Feel free to leave a comment, ask questions or share your own van life experiences.
