The Why, determines the what and the how...

I’m Craig, the founder of Forging Nomads.

My why is fairly simple: out of necessity I found myself working away from home again.

The problem was that with the emergence of AirBnB and its popularity, the following price hikes in the cost of accommodation were making it impossible to make decent money.

What I needed was a van.

I had thought about this before but because I was looking for work that was close to home it was something that I never got around to. 

As I was going back to being away from home, I needed that van, however there were some things that needed ironing out…

Firstly, I couldn’t afford a ready-built van. The cost of some of the ready converted or coach built vans are astronomical compared to what my budget would allow.

Secondly, I needed a smaller van. Living on the Isle of Wight, I needed a van that was small enough to make the ferry costs reasonable.

Thirdly, I wasn’t sure about the layouts in the vans that I had seen. I wanted a fixed bed, which is something that you just don’t get on board the smaller vans.

So I have set about creating my own space that works for me.I have learned so much through blog articles and YouTube has been an invaluable source of information.

There are so many resources available and so many ideas for creating the perfect space.

And now, as I embark on this exciting journey, I invite you to join me every step of the way.
